Salsa in Kuala Lumpur was revolutionised in 1998 when Sharie Dekorte formed Havana Estudio, Malaysia's first Salsa school. Directors Sam and Aisha truly believe that the heart of Salsa is on the social dance floor. They are undoubtedly one of the most active dancers in the clubs in the Klang Valley, and they inspire many dancers from all ages and walks of life.

Sam trained in Boston, Miami, New York, Los Angeles, and other styles of Salsa as well as in the 21-dance International and American styles of ballroom dancing. In 2001, he championed the Malaysia-Singapore Salsa Competition. He brought Malaysia to Japan Salsa Congress in 2004 and the LA West Coast Salsa Congress in 2005. He has also inspired some self-professed "kayus" into some of the best Salsa dancers in Malaysia and other parts of the world.

Aisha is a hard-core social dancer with an immaculate style, who will make any dancer look and feel good on the dance floor! Trained in Canada and under Sam, she started teaching Salsa in 2002 and today teaches all levels of Salsa classes and choreographs at Havana Estudio.

Every year, Sam and Aisha train students to perform overseas and locally. Thanks to events like the MSF, more students have the opportunity to showcase their talents and exchange knowledge with dancers from other parts of the world. This year, Havana Estudio is proud to present our largest performance group ever to perform for an international audience.
